In terms of experience, our costume designers usually have an MFA, or are MFA students, or experienced professionals. Will supervise the wardrobe supervisor who works as the assistant to the designer. Will collaborate closely with the directors. Most costumes are rented, pulled from stock, borrowed from actors, etc - very few are constructed. This is a hands-on position requiring sewing skills as well as organizational skills. The Costume Designerwill design selected shows for the season. Lighting Designers are contracted by show, rather than for the whole season. In terms of experience, our lighting designers usually have an MFA, or are MFA students, or experienced professionals. The Lighting Designerwill design lighting for selected shows and will collaborate closely with the directors, and will work with the stage manager and the TD in organizing the changeovers. Depending upon the show, may be part of the running crew. The Properties Master will work with the TD and under the direction of the Set Designer to shop, borrow, and/or build the props for each of the shows. Depending upon the show, he or she may be part of the running crew. The Assistant Technical Director requires an individual with excellent carpentry skills as well as the ability to assist the TD in supervising the carpenters. Often interns work in multiple technical disciplines: costumes/props, carp/props, electrics/carp, etc. Technical Interns are usually undergraduates with limited experience but unlimited enthusiasm. In terms of experience, our sound designers usually have an MFA, or are MFA students, with some previous experience in summer theatre preferred. Also responsible for setting up the theatre sound system, including cables, area mikes, speakers, amplifiers, and a multi channel sound mixer. The Sound Designer/Operator will design some or all 7 of the shows for the season. Carpenters will be part of the running crew. Although most of the job involves carpentry, some electrics may be involved. (Dates Flexible)Ĭarpenters will work under the supervision of the TD or ATD to construct the sets and load in and out the sets during changeover. Contract runs approximately May 20-September 10, 2022. Depending upon experience, he or she also may be given the opportunity to design one of the mainstage productions. He or she will also have the opportunity to design the lighting for the cabaret and Children’s Theatre shows. Will be responsible for ordering the annual lighting equipment rental, picking it up, and returning it. as well as possibly running board during the shows. The Master Electrician/ALD will work under the supervision of the Lighting Designer and is responsible for maintaining the electrics, the board, focus, etc. Will schedule and supervise all changeovers in consultation with the stage manager and set and lighting designer. Will supervise the ATD and two or three carpenters. Will work closely with the set designer to execute the designs. The Technical Director requires a hands on person responsible for the construction of all seven sets for the season and for the TYA Production. Scenic Designers are contracted by show, rather than for the whole season. In terms of experience, our scenic designers typically have an MFA, or are MFA students or experienced professionals. He or she should have good communication skills and be able to work closely with the directors, the TD, the props master, and the rest of the technical staff. Although the scenic designer will not be directly involved with building, he or she should be comfortable and experienced in a small scene shop environment. The scenic designer also executes most of the scenic painting. The Scenic Designer will design and draft the sets for selected shows.
